My university application journey
For my Bachelor's, I went with Accountancy because I felt that it is a useful, practical skill to learn and besides, I like working with numbers.
Despite being an introvert, I chose SMU (well-known for their interactive pedagogy) because I value the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone. I did not know any seniors from SMU beforehand but I went for SMU's open house in 2015 and it was then that I really fell in love with the university's energy and vibe.
Furthermore, I enjoyed the interview process because my School of Accountancy Professors/interviewers were very friendly and welcoming. In addition, as someone who values overseas exposure, SMU was a perfect choice for me as there were a lot of global exposure opportunities offered to students (e.g. exchange programmes, overseas community projects, study missions).
Life after NYJC
After my completing my Bachelor of Accountancy (with a second major in Psychology) journey at SMU, I decided to continue my studies at SMU and pursued a post-graduate degree in Psychology. Reason being that I found myself being increasingly fascinated by the study of human behaviour and passionate about research. I have not regretted my decision since because it is what I enjoy doing and it allows me to have the opportunity to critically think about questions I have always had.

Tips for Juniors
Don't be afraid to pursue what you are truly passionate in, no matter how unconventional it is and may your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.
