My university application journey
I chose this course as I felt that my analytical and systematic approach to life is a fitting mindset for a course such as Business Analytics. I have also found myself enjoying statistics a fair bit back in JC, and so I thought, why not? I was initially torn between Computer Science and Business Analytics, as both feature skills that I felt were beneficial to me and were relevant in the labour market now. But I decided to pick Business Analytics instead because of the versatility it provides (e.g. healthcare or public transport). During application, it was really tough creating a personal statement. Not only were there a limited amount of words to use, I also had to make sure I was promoting myself confidently while being humble. Balancing everything was in my opinion the toughest part of the application and it took several days for the personal statement to be finalized. Other than that, everything else was smooth.
Life after NYJC
NS was tough initially, but after finishing training. I became physically fit and was able to endure any task given to me. The key phrase to remember always was “take it one step at a time, it will get easier”
My Future Plans
I intend to use my knowledge in analytical thinking to come up with solutions for certain problems in Singapore.
Tips for Juniors
It’s a matter of attitude and personality. If you envision yourself to be successful, chances are, you’ll find a way to be successful. There’s no such thing as “I won’t make it” or “I can’t do it”. Most things can be done. It depends on how effectively you use your time, and how much you are willing to struggle for it.
